About The Norwegian Retailers' Environment Fund
We are the joint initiative that brings together Norwegian retail in the fight against environmental problems linked to plastic. The Norwegian Retailers' Environment Fund was established by the retail industry itself and is financed by an environmental fee of NOK 4 for each plastic carrier bag sold by our members in Norway. This makes us Norway’s most important instrument for achieving the EU’s target of reducing plastic bag consumption.
Since our inception in 2017, we have awarded more than NOK 2 billion to concrete environmental projects – from Cleanup Norway in Time, the world’s largest professional cleanup initiative, to innovative solutions and plastic pollution prevention measures in Norway and abroad. All with one goal in mind: to keep plastic in the circular economy and out of nature.
